Click-through rate

How many who saw you actually clicked.

UPDATED 3 SEPTEMBER 2026

What is Click-through rate?

Click-through rate (CTR) is the share of people who saw a result and clicked it. In Search Console it shows how often your listing was shown for a search and how often it earned the click. Position one earns roughly a fifth to a quarter of clicks; position ten earns almost none.

What it means for a small service business

A poor CTR on a good ranking usually means a dull title or description. A good CTR on a poor ranking means the listing is working harder than the page deserves. Both are fixable without touching the ranking.

Does your business need to do anything about Click-through rate?

Look at it in Search Console once a quarter for your top ten searches.
