What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is the degree to which AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google’s AI Overviews know a business exists, describe it accurately, and recommend it when someone asks who to hire. It is measured by asking the assistants the questions customers ask and reading what comes back.
What it means for a small service business
Most small businesses have three possible results: named (the assistant recommends you), known (it can describe you but recommends others) or invisible (it finds almost nothing). The middle one is the common case and the most fixable: the assistant has read your website and found nothing worth quoting.
