Accessibility

A website everyone can use.

UPDATED 3 SEPTEMBER 2026

What is Accessibility?

Accessibility means building a website so that people with impaired sight, hearing, movement or attention can use it: readable contrast, text that scales, buttons that work from a keyboard, images described, forms labelled. The standard is called WCAG; the UK duty comes from the Equality Act.

What it means for a small service business

One in five UK adults has a disability, and most accessibility faults also annoy everyone else: grey text on grey, tiny tap targets, forms that fail silently. Google measures it and scores it out of 100.

Does your business need to do anything about Accessibility?

The basics, yes. They come free with a website built properly, and the speed test shows Google’s accessibility score alongside speed.
