The website itself

Static website

Pages served as finished files, not built on the fly.

UPDATED 3 SEPTEMBER 2026

What is Static website?

A static website is one where every page is a finished file sent to the visitor as it is, rather than assembled by a database and a content management system on every visit. Static websites are faster, cheaper to host, harder to hack, and can be moved between hosts in an hour.

What it means for a small service business

Most small-business websites are WordPress or a page builder: a database, plugins, updates and a login that gets attacked all day. A static website has none of that to go wrong. The trade-off is that changes are made by whoever looks after the website rather than by you in an editor, which for most owners is the point.
